In spite of the cultural diversity in Miami and strong history of immigration in South Florida, the dialogue on immigration has been considerably quiet at the University of Miami. This February 28th, the Dunspaugh-Dalton Community & Educational Well-Being (CEW) Research Center at the School of Education and the Center for Latin American Studies hope to spark conversation on an issue of increasing relevance to our generation and today's society through a speaker panel featuring five individuals from widely varying backgrounds who will share their thoughts, experiences, and visions for the future. There will be an emphasis on policies of the past, whether our system is indeed “broken”, policy recommendations, and the role of immigration in the upcoming Presidential and Congressional elections.
