Interview: Ninjasonik tonight at 7pm!
By Giovanna Stallings-Blanche posted Sep 25, 2010 at 05:00 PM

Check out what the Miami New Times had to say about their show tonight:

"Well, bro, you need to get off that jaded hipster ish because these three cross-genre scientists are the real deal. Whether you're talking singles such as "Ha Ha Ha," "Somebody Gon Get Pregnant," or "Internet Bitch," Jah-Jah, Telli, and Roofeeo keep it street while still weirding out. They throw down deep, druggy beats. They chop up samples with a samurai sword. They spit lazy, crazy rhymes like there's something stuck in their teeth.

Basically, the members of the Ninjasonik crew live by a code of everything goes — grabbing liberally from, as their own hype says, "Slick Rick and the Sex Pistols" to pound out a pure and vicious pop-rap-punk mashup of awesomely uneven proportions. It's a throwback thing. It's an evolved experiment. It's all about dumb fun and civil disobedience.

And what? You're gonna dis it, bro? Stop posing; let's party."

AL B. Rotten on Electric Kingdom this Thursday, Sept 23 from 7-9PM
By Amber Robertson posted Sep 20, 2010 at 10:51 PM

If you've been out and about anywhere in Miami over the past eight years, you've probably seen or heard the cat sometimes called AL B. Rotten. Andrews Lorenzana was behind the long-running weekly night named SpiderPussy. Rotten and co-conspirator Johnny Strokes (born Rafael DeOnate) slipped into White Room and opened up Exposure, which turned out to be an excellent way to remedy those ho-hum Mondays. But Exposure snapped into a hiatus, and now Rotten, and company bring us a Sunday party at Kill Your Idol, BLACK † DIVISION.

Promotor or DJ? At the old Sushi Box, on Biscayne Boulevard, Lorenzana was throwing a sort of dinner party & wanted to control the sound, so he threw down some of his favorite tracks. Then one night about a week later, he watched as DJ Le Spam wowed the crowd at Spiderpussy, then at Lounge 16 back in 2002. At that point, the host decided he himself could spin, and AL B. Rotten was born.

And though the styles he plays have evolved, rotten still applies to the attitude of the dirty electro dance, italo disco and dubstep that now make up most of his sets. That's not to say AL B. has given up on the Pistols or the Buzzcocks or the Ramones. Meow. Catch it on Thursday from 7-9pm. Hosted by Amber
