Brass, Bounce, and Empowerment: Sounds Imported from New Orleans

Where y'at, Miami!  This is Your Boy Kev and I'm fresh off the plane from five days in New Orleans.  I went there to present a paper at an academic-like music conference and met with some great artists from that amazing city.  I sat down for BBQ shrimp and pizza with bounce artist Fly Boy Keno whose remix of Lloyd's "Lay It Down" is the biggest hit in New Orleans right now.  DJ Rusty Lazer also showed me some southern hospitality in his Swoon-painted up apartment by the St. Roch neighborhood, where he runs Saturday nights at St. Roch Tavern.  It's really the best place in town to dance and find yo'self a lil freak on a weekend night.

Dubstep Army welcomes gooddroid (aka Adrianna Moschides) to the show for a live DJ set this Friday.  While gooddroid has been known to share the stage with international dubstep acts like N-type and Nero, her links to the Miami dubstep scene include involvement with Get Low, the (((SHAKE))) event held monthly at the Vagabond.  Dubporn Records is her newest project about to take Miami by storm.  Join us at 9pm for some diverse sounds from one of the most noteworthy in Miami's dubstep scene.

INTERVIEW: Memorial Bike Ride for UM law student Natasha Pettigrew

Listen at 5:30PM for a special interview with Brian Sperber, who is helping organize the memorial for Natasha Pettigrew, a UM law student who was stuck and killed while riding her bike in September. 

To appropriately honor Natasha’s memory, the University of Miami School of Law has teamed up with the South Florida Bike Coalition to organize a charity bike ride. The ride will take place on February 26th and bikes will be provided. Please e-mail for more information.
