DJ Carlos Llanos on Electric Kingdom- Thursday August 12, 7-9PM
By Amber Robertson posted Aug 09, 2010 at 09:30 PM

Carlos Llanos started DJing in the late 90’s in night clubs in Peru, his home country. After moving to Miami in 2003 he became a permanent fixture at Soho Lounge as the resident DJ. Llanos also made the rounds at the Kitchen Club, SpiderPussy, Circa 28, Sin Events parties, Buck 15 and many other venues around Miami. As one of the founding members of the ultra-underground and DJ-favorite Peaches and Prunes party, Llanos brought the best of italo disco, electro, and house to a select few. Carlos’s DJ sets are always smooth and danceable. He is best known for his mixing techniques and for his broad influences, including italo disco, new wave, house and all everything in between. CATCH HIM ONLY ON THE VOICE.

We apologize for our site being down over the weekend! We were not hacked (amen) but our server is being moved. Streaming should be up tomorrow if all goes well. Thanks for sticking through! Streaming does work on campus, though, so if you are determined, you can stream that way…Love, WVUM

Ketchy Shuby Live Performance!
By Amber Robertson posted Aug 04, 2010 at 05:17 PM

As many of you know, Johnny one of our talented music directors and host of “Freedom for the Funk” has been on vacation for about a month. I Am Your Villian and Johnny collaborated to bring sweet Miami DJ’s to grace our airwaves with their own personal funk collections. Amber and DJ Manuvers have hosted the show with Manuvers and Joel Meinholz coordinating weekly DJ’s. Every week brings some new flavor to WVUM, whether it be Mr. Brown with Brazilian Funk, Tom Laroc brining in rare records, Induce doing his thaaang, or most recently, bringing in live bands. As host of Electric Kingdom, I’ve had my share of like 6 people packed into our studio before, but not including a bass guitar, drums, keyboard, sax, large monitor, a mixer, and a turntable. ANNDDDD a full drum set in our hallway. It was quite a night on August 3 during Freedom for the Funk, indeed. Ketchy Shuby graced our studios with their live nu-funk sound. It sounded so good in here, it prompted Manuvers girlfriend Sammy to text him and ask if it was a live song or a recorded one….LIVE BABY.
