Hello, my name is Gino. I am a musician and a DJ. It’s who I am. I’ve been involved with music pretty much since I was competent enough to play an instrument. As a kid, I took piano lessons and played countless recitals, something that I hated my parents for at the time but thank them for now. As a teenager, I was the lead guitarist for 2 seperate Miami local rock bands, Headcase (1998-2000) and Forever Lost (2001-2003), which performed throughout the state of Florida. When I finally realized it was nearly impossible to coordinate 5 people with completely different interests and schedules, I gave up on the bands and turned my attention to what had been a hobby at the time, DJing.
I had my early roots in hip hop and rock scratching but had my life forever changed after going to my 1st Ultra Music Festival in 2002. I instantly fell in love with Electronic Music and turned most of my attention to that genre instead of the hip hop format I had been playing up to that point. The rest is history. I would eventually start running with promotion groups, picking up whatever gigs I could. I began my 1st residency at Jade Nightclub in South Beach, a weekly Saturday Night party for the South Beach lesbian community, in late 2003. Shortly there after, I found myself performing the opening set on Florida Allstars Stage at Ultra Music Festival 6 in 2004. In late 2005, I began what would eventually become my own radio show on Miami’s WRGP RadiateFM with my friend and co-host, Stephen Peters who, at the time, was also a DJ on the now defunct Party 93.1.
My radio show on Radiate FM, which was on the air for close to 5 years, was key in helping me get my name out, thus propelling my DJ career. I’ve met and made connections with some of the top DJs & promoters in Miami and throughout the world and have since played at the Ultra Music Festival 5 consecutive years, each time spearheading a promotional partnership between WRGP RadiateFM and the festival itself. In October of 2007, I released my 1st original production, “Take Me There” on Department of Dance Recordings and then released my 1st remix in June of 2008, rehashing Lesamoor’s “I Like It”. My 2nd official remix (of “Turistas” by Albe Duran, also on Department of Dance Recordings) was was released in the Fall of 2008. At this point experience wise, I’ve DJed at most of what I consider to be the best clubs in Miami and recently concluded a year-long residency with Invite Miami’s Cache Saturdays, held at PawnShop & Allure Nightclub, which was week in and week out, one of the top 3 drawing Saturday night parties in Downtown Miami.
