Bassment Sessions August 11: Alex Cid

By SpinnZinn posted Aug 11, 2011 at 01:33 AM

Even if our host SpinnZinn is over on the West Coast enjoying the cool weather, Bassment Sessions continues un-interrupted.

Join us this week as Duncan Ross steps in as host with Dj Alex Cid on the decks!

Same time, same place: 9pm, 90.5FM

Born in Honduras and raised in Miami, music has always played a major role in the life of Alex Cid. Influenced early in life by his grandfather, he used to sit with him in front of a record player for hours listening to an array of music that included anything from symphonies to Brazilian samba. “I remember closing my eyes and drowning in the different rhythms and sounds.” As he grew older he listened to many different genres of music, but it wasn’t until the late nineties that he found his true love, Electronic Music! “I always knew that music would play a very important role in my life. I just didn’t know it would affect me so deeply.” At a mere 16 he began his dream of attaining his first turntables. Just a year later he had a mini-studio set up in his bedroom and he set out on his journey to becoming a distinguished DJ. Climbing the ladder steadily, his first gigs consisted of house parties and special events. Moving up, he began a residency on a weekly radio show called Crash, followed by a guest-appearance on the popular FIU radio station Radiate FM. He has also played at some popular Miami clubs such as After Glow and Skyline in South Beach, and Nocturnal in Downtown. “For me, playing music is not about popularity or the scene. It is a deep love and appreciation for music that I enjoy blending together and sharing with others.” Bringing a creative sound to Miami nightlife Alex Cid blends classic to popular tech house that takes listeners through a heart pumping ride that will get you to let go of your troubles and submerge yourself pure melodic bliss.
