We normally review two postal bins full of crappy CDs per week at WVUM. 90.5% of it is usually junk from teen bop pop star wannabees who send us glamor shots in bedazzled envelopes, promo company albums with 1-sheets lying about what bands they might resemble, and miscellaneous burnt CDs labeled with Sharpie scribbles. Today I received a cassette tape. Such joy.

The packaging instantly caught my attention (I’ve been kicking myself in the ass for throwing it away). The whole thing kept getting better as I opened the box, the tape itself looked like something from 1987 and then the music… good stuff. I even had to pull out my Walkman. The whole experience was fantastic and I felt like Clive knew exactly what he was doing when he sent it.

I really can’t find much info on Clive Tanaka or his Orquestra. Don’t be fooled by the name though, it sounds nothing like Señor Coconut or Ray Barretto….
