On September 19, 2010, Maryland Senatorial Candidate and University of Miami School of Law student Natasha Pettigrew was struck and killed while riding her bike. An active member of the Miami Law community, she dedicated her life to bettering the lives of others and is sorely missed by everybody who knew her well. To appropriately honor Natasha’s memory, the University of Miami School of Law has teamed up with the South Florida Bike Coalition to organize a charity bike ride. Occurring on February 26, 2011, the ride will be approximately 10-miles long and will retrace some of the routes Natasha used to train for the various triathlons she competed in. Open to everybody, all money raised will go to create a fund in Natasha’s honor that will be used to enhance bike safety throughout Miami-Dade County, a cause very close to Natasha’s heart. Following the ride, there will be a memorial service honoring Natasha and the work she has done both at the Law School and nationally.
