Lapalux’s Nostalchic Album Review

By Natasha Mijares posted Mar 29, 2013 at 03:53 PM

Essex born producer Stuart Howard or “Lapalux” marries the groovy backbone of his contemporaries from Flying Lotus’s record label, Brainfeeder with the chill vibes and emotional moodiness of a Toro Y Moi type of atmosphere. He plays with an extensive amount of layers of sounds and arranges them in way that is unpredictable yet comprehensible.

He also has a mixture of samples and recorded artists that brings an interesting depth to the sound. His collage type approach to creating music allows for a malleability within itself that can lead a track to be the perfect background noise for pondering on a gloomy day or seducing a prospective lover. Either way, this album has a great way of engaging a duality between one’s body and mind.

Check out the beautifully gritty music video for one of the tracks from Nostalchic, “Without You” featuring Kerry Leatham here.
