My Journey to Restore Sanity and/or Fear: The Revolution - er, Rally - Will Be Live Blogged

By Kathleen Elise posted Oct 30, 2010 at 11:32 AM

Important update: the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear will be blogged live from the scene here on wvum.org!

Right-o! Starting around 10am, I'll be live blogging the Stewart/Colbert rally from the National Mall. Make sure you keep your Interwebs open to THIS PAGE, where there will be real time updates and commentary on featured events, attendees, and of course, the funniest poster slogans and Halloween costumes. Photos will be posted afterward (or during, if I can figure out how to post them from my phone). Long live sanity and/or fear!

11:30 - Signs: "The only thing we have to fear is everything," "The rent is okay," "What's your sign?", "Got bathrooms?" Heard Devo on the loudspeakers, which I find terribly appropriate. 11:20 - Costumes: Bert, Big Bird, and Oscar the Grouch; Smokey the Bear. Signs: "The Grizzlies are everywhere," "Enlighten up," something in Arabic and Iin English underneath, "Relax. It just says McDonald's," "I'm calmer than you are, dude," "Help win the war. Grow hemp." More and more people, music playing (my friend says it's Coldplay, but it sounds more like marching band to me. I don't think I've ever been aroud this many people, but everyone is really nice, really laid back. Very sane gathering thus far. 11:05 - Woke up late, but almost there. Lots of people walking over. Some people dressed as mariachis. Overhead: "Jon Stewart is bringing families together." More like bored college kids, but okay.
