Oly on Electric Kingdom tonight from 7-9P

By Amber Robertson posted Jul 14, 2011 at 12:54 PM

Catch Oly on air from 7-9PM playing some music on Electric Kingdom, hosted by Dusty.

Oly is a whimsical singer-songwriter who accompanies her voice with computers, drum machines, melodicas, synths, casios and violins. Her music is a unique blend of pop structures, granulated/abused sounds, and lo-fi undertones.

With songs about unrequited love and "No Money Fun" she has been appealing to people of all ages since featuring her music on televisions shows in the U.S.  Having played in bands ranging from teen-angst and jazz/dissonant rock during high school and college, she's grown as a solo artist, crafting a sound all her own while recalling the likes of Solex, Bjork, and Lali Puna. She’s shared stages with diverse musical acts, including one of her favorite bands, Dat Politics (Chicks on Speed/Tigerbeat6), french group M83 (Mute/Gooom), and the Blow (K Records). She recorded with noise guru Rat Bastard (Laundry Room Squelchers/Guided by Voices/To Live and Shave in L.A.), sang for fellow Miamians Otto Von Schirach (Schematic),  french musician Norman Bambi (Ponpoko), French 8bit label Relax Beat and toured/collaborated with Deceptikon (Merck).
