The Countdown has ended: Bassment Sessions Signs Off of WVUM

By SpinnZinn posted May 09, 2013 at 02:48 PM

Its been a great run, but alas, 6 years of bringing #qualitytechno to WVUM comes to an end tonight. Don't miss out on tonights show as your host SpinnZinn goes through several years worth of music, and reveals the story behind the show!

ps funny pics after the jump !

I don't exactly know how to express myself... 6 years of taking over the airwaves on WVUM 90.5FM comes to an end tonight! Looking back over these past years, so many great memories and friendships formed. While the time has come to pass on the baton on to the next set of musical pioneers taking over the station, I want to thank all of those who supported the show and who tuned in every Thursday, and those of you who've been tuning in on Fridays too ::wink wink::.  I'm not one for words, so I figured I'd share with you all a collection of pictures... depicting the last 6 years

As you can see, the above picture is NOT WVUM's studio... ^.^... This picture is actually where it all started. Back in Frankfurt Germany, the Basement of my house. Way before I got into UM, before all the madness of Miami, my friends and I would gather at my house, and have ourselves some "Bassment Sessions." (The above picture is one of the only few remaining pictures of those times that are "safe enough" to post online. ^.^)

Then UM fell into my lap... or, well I fell into IT'S lap ...  Jumping headfist into WVUM! One of my first radio broadcasts as a rotation Dj, Bassment Sessions was just a mere idea in my head.

I SWEAR I DIDN'T BREAK IT!

Not yet having completely formed the "Bassment Sessions" show idea, I did  a few guest spots on WVUM with other hosts. Which got me thinking..... Why not host my own show? ... Bring to Miami, what in my mind was severly lacking on the airwaves, some quality electronic music!

And so started the "Bassment Sessions" Shennanigans... Starting off originally on Friday nights, then after 1 year moving to Thursday nights, where we formed our beloved family (guest djs, friends, and yes YOU, you the person reading this), broadcasting  #qualitytechno weekly!

So many good times in this little "box in the wall" we like to call our studio.... SpinnZinn with long hair ^.^ ha! Those were the days!

Then one evening, I get a MYSPACE message.... MYSPACE... ha, (who remembers that place?) from two guys, calling themselves "SanedracHunter."   Little did I know a great friendship would begin brewing!

Then, thanks to YOU, the listeners, WVUM was voted #1 College Radio Station in the nation!!

Serious friendships made, Nicolette, Amber, Laura (of Miami) and myself, awaiting the news of who was voted #1 College Radio Station in the Nation!

Only improving the quality of our station... All the while with the same goal over the years: "Provide Miami with #qualitytechno"

With that, I want to thank you all for tuning in, and invite you to tune in one last time on WVUM 90.5FM & wvum.org as I relive the last 6 years!
