Things I’ve Learned from the Internet So Far

By Kathleen Elise posted Jan 28, 2011 at 10:28 AM

It's Friday, which means it's time to take a peek at what the Internet has taught us this week. Read on for a new Sleigh Bells video, a look back at the '90s, and a kickass cello cover of "Smooth Criminal."

#1 - Radical Dads is my new favorite band ever, thanks in no small part to this video.

#2 - Just because you think the 1990s is the Greatest Decade of All Time Ever doesn't mean it didn't feature some choice things we should never see again. Take for instance:

  • Nu-metal
  • Fanny packs
  • Friends
  • Tamagotchis (Editor's note: I strongly disagree.)
  • Dial-up Internet
  • Scrunchies (Editor's note: My mom strongly disagrees.)
  • Titanic
  • Pogs
  • Boy bands
  • Beanie babies

You can read the Flavorwire article in full here.

#3 - I don't care what you say (ahem JOHNNY AND AMBER), Sleigh Bells remain fantastic. If you're in Miami, you have no reason not to catch them at Grand Central April 30. You can watch their latest video for "Rill RIll" over at The Daily What.

#4 - I'm fairly certain the words "dueling cellos" and "Michael Jackson" make you want to click away from this immediately, but don't do it! Below is a video which makes me mildly proud to have played cello in high school.
