WVUM To Broadcast First Marlins Game In New Marlins Park

By Chris Wittyngham posted Mar 05, 2012 at 12:12 AM

WVUM will be broadcasting the 2nd game in Marlins Park history (the first being Belen-Columbus high school baseball) between the University of Miami Hurricanes and the Miami Marlins. More details on the broadcast inside

WVUM will be the first radio station to broadcast a game out of new Marlins Park. WVUM is the flagship station for Miami Hurricanes baseball and in keeping with doing every game we will be broadcasting the University of Miami exhibition with Major League Baseball's Miami Marlins. The game will be the first game ever played in the new stadium built by the franchise and the city of Miami that has the big club on the marquee. It'll be the first chance for the newly named and new look Miami Marlins to show off their new uniforms, new colors, new name, and new park to the fans of Miami. Only a select amount of seats (around 10,000) were sold for the game as they ease new crowds into the stadium, so if you were unable to grab a ticket, be sure to listen to WVUM. The Marlins have a split squad date against the Detroit Tigers earlier in the day, so the Canes will face only half of the big league team, but the team will feature Marlins stars like Hanley Ramirez and Logan Morrison according to Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen.

WVUM will broadcast every minute of the game beginning at 6:55 PM on Tuesday March 6th on 90.5 FM,, or the WVUM iPhone app which you can find in the app store. Just search "WVUM"

Chris Wittyngham and Jordan Kroeger will be on the call. We're excited and we hope you'll join us for some Tuesday evening baseball.

Keep it locked to WVUM!
