On Februrary 22, 2013 DJ Four Color Zack did a guest DJ set to promote the Southeast Red Bull Thre3style Regional Qualifier as he is the 2012 World Champion. Thre3Style is an innovative concept that gives highly skilled DJs a global platform to showcase their skills, battle and gain notoriety by rockin' the dance floor. Unlike other DJ battles that are based on solely technical aspects, Red Bull Thre3style has a creative and original format that seeks to find the DJ that has the most unique track selection, creativity, mixing skills, stage presence, and crowd reaction. Residing from Seattle, WA, Four Color Zack mixes beats ranging from 80's glam rock to current synth pop in a seamless and masterful way.

The world of R&B has been undergoing an exciting, existential transformation where the definition of “real” R&B is slowly shifting. While many will point you to new artists such as The Weeknd, Miguel, and Frank Ocean to experience the “New R&B” followers of Daniel Lopatin’s cult will politely steer you in the direction of Arthur Ashin, who performs under the moniker Autre Ne Veut. Ashin is more of the studio-nerd type and uses the R&B sounds to transmit emotions and introspection, rather than reproduce and expand on the traditional artists who obviously inspired him. Weighing the 2013 release Anxiety by R&B standards, it will always fall short, but as an emotional journey set to music, this one shines.

Foals Releases Solid New Album

Foals has always been an odd little contradiction of a band. Their origins lie in math rock, a decidedly non-mainstream genre. Foals’ mercurial frontman, Yannis Philippakis, is an unapologetic hipster who detests catering to the lowest common denominator. Yet they don’t lack ambitions of mass-appeal. Foals’ goal is and has been to sell boatloads of albums and fill stadiums—and incredibly, they appear to be succeeding, especially with the advent of their latest album, Holy Fire.
