by Chris Palowitch

Check out: “Open Up” – Active Bird Community

Margo – 1st Dap Project

Music engineer, dap project. 7-bit Swede-Step. Margo-Step.

Big Awesome. – Drawing a Line in the Sand

-          Better Than Numbers

South Carolina. Colin and John write all the material, cause gone through 5 drummers. Good chemistry between them. Like burritos and pizza, but the pizza that isn’t floppy. Cooked thoroughly and good pepperoni, like a grown man should. NEW ALBUM SOON!

Colin’s PR Company -

Run For the Coast – Greenwich Valley

-          Curvature

Pembroke Pines, like meeting people, writing music, playing songs to YOU, and having a good old fashioned swell time. Hopefully setting up a live show with them so keep tuned.

Active Bird Community – Astrophobia

-          Open Up

Awesome songwriting. I generally try to stay away from some genres because I think they’re over done, but these guys are doing really awesome stuff. CHECK OUT OPEN UP!

Survay Says! – The Netflix Song (Season Two)

-          At Least I’m Safe Inside My Mind (Part 1)

Awesome guys, seem to be entirely DIY. Playing Talent Farm in April on new record tour. Will play new record when comes out. Nice guys, think they forgave me.

Secret Plot to Destroy the Entire Universe. – The Montauk Project

-          Roswell, NM

Didn’t get back to me (BOOOOO). Philly. Saw they played a show at the talent farm so checked them out. Some really good stuff like the first song, Montauk Project, name of the album.

The Down House – Old Shoes

-          Bliss

Santa Rosa, Ca near home. The songs played are gonna be their first 2 songs they wrote when they were a 3 piece, now 5-piece. They just released a zine and are playing a bunch of shows, which you can check out on their FB and Tumblr. Also play in the projects No Sir, Ceremony, Spirits of Leo, which I’ll definitely check out. New tracks soon!

Dungeons & Dagrons – Riffs in Space Time

-          FireAntJuice

2 piece originally from south florida but now reside in Gainsville. Tracks from recent WIZARD ST!X about a month ago. Working on getting shows in all of Florida. Former members or ska band King Rooster, both played drums for Van Gogh Sky. Hopefully come down for a live show.

Art Contest – Banana Boat

-          Mean Note

SC. Heard about from NUANCE (See “Big Awesome”). Two of them work for their college radio station, which I listened to and is awesome, similar but on Mondays. TOURING SOON! Aaron, bassist from UK hates the Beatles. NO vegetarians. Played a cover of “Dazed and Confused” before.

Their radio show is Monday 9-11pm, “The Opposite of Football”:

My Son the Birdman– Muerto Muerto County

-          Bastard!!!! From a basket

Corona CA. Played with them on my bands first tour ever. Blown away because while I had heard that style of music, never heard it performed live before. Sounds just as good if not better. Busy trying to live the life of a musician, but working on release 5-6 tracks by the fall. Definitely keep a look out for those. Hopefully get to play with them in the future.

Shinobu- Antarctic Stare

-          Point Break

-          2 Tone Tuesday

San Jose. Been a band for a long time and still love it. Totally was cool with them when a track from their 2nd latest album started with a freeform trombone solo. A track from that album, and two tracks from their latest split with Four Tomorrow, who I still have to check out.

Nevermeant– Egocentric

-          Under My Skin

-          Dodo Bird

LA. Forget how I found them, but first track I listened to which I’ll play reminded me a lot of title fight. Also, they have killer lyrics. Mahaffie plays in the band Jump Cut, which is 8-bit punk, which is super cool, hopefully play them soon.
