Left of the Dial pays tribute to the golden age of college radio: when bands could release a quirky hit single, hit the peak of their career, and maybe attain some regional success. Without blogs or corporate interests to support them, bands needed the grassroots voice of university radio stations to spread their music and influence. These bands, often still obscure, laid the groundwork for the current "indie" scene, and likely influenced almost every band you know and love in a profound way.
I want to take you back, back to the 1980's, when post-punk was blowing up, guitars were jangling, and alternative was just being invented. So put on your flannel, rock that asymmetrical haircut, and get androgynous. We're going Left of the Dial!
