Miguel Migs interview on The Underground

Tonight on The Underground we interview the legendary Miguel Migs, whenever the baseball thankfully ends. Have you heard the one about the homerun sculpture.

Drop it like it's hot.

Tonight we’re going to party like it’s ..wait

There's a baseball game tonight, and I'm not doing the show from Treehouse (I will next week), so rather than sit in the studio thumbing through old pixies cd's I'm going to give new meaning to the term 'bedroom dj' and do the underground from my studio...meaning I'm surrounded by my vinyl, and will play it. you may not enjoy this. or you might. See I went to Thunderpony at La Covacha Thursday night and these boys are good, and the sound is great, so the only thing I got to show you is how this sound has been for the last 15 years.

Strictly for the Hard Core

Have you ever actually met someone with an 'e' in their dj name. They exist, and back in the day your name needed to look as fly on a flyer as it did in gold on your chest. Tonight I'm opening up The Underground with a buddy of mine Matt 'E' Love who has been featured on such things as...The Groove cruise, and other things that I'm just being nonchalant about. Supposedly he's good friends with The Crystal Method, so stick that where it's worth. He'll be doing the opening duties from 9-10, and I'll play from 10-1am, with my DJ friend Donny Sizemore from SF. So please, please, please, let me, let me, let me, get what I want this time. You could be here with us you know. Listen closely for how you can join us in the studio.

THE UNDERGROUND: Sorry for party rocking

ITS CHRISTMAS TIME

There's nothing I hate more than leaving Miami. So get granma goosed up on eggnog and let's party, on The Underground 9-????????????????????

Halloween Underground

The freaks come out at night, oh but you know that. Tune in to The Underground, WVUM's longest running show, with the original host and DJ, Duncan Ross, for some darkness with a purpose. It's Halloween, and I'm going to be a Mad Scientist, again. but the show is all new, and tops..in fact...I think a ghost movie was probably my first taste of electronic music in its current form. So tune in at 9pm, and see what's up, before you go out in that uberoriginal Snow White pushup number.

Sunday School: The Lost Weekend review

Some men gauge their masculinity by the amount of money they make, some punish themselves through tests of physical endurance such as the Ironman competition, and some, such as myself, find their self-worth in the number of hours they can maintain a semblance of put-togetherness throughout a yearly event known now as ‘Sunday School: The Lost Weekend’ but formerly aptly named “Sunday School for Degenerates.”

Learn how to get through a weekend like this by a man who has been there and is still doing that, The Underground's Duncan Ross

Michel Cleis and Sunday School:The Lost Weekend on Saturday’s Underground

This Saturday on The Underground tune in to win tickets to Sunday School: The Lost Weekend plus a Cadenza Vagabundos T-Shirt and the new album by Frivolous: Meteorology (performing live at the event)

Sunday School: The Lost Weekend at the Ice Palace is taking place during the Miami Music Week March 25-27.

This week's guest mix will be from Michel Cleis, a Sunday School artist, with your host Duncan Ross rounding out the rest of the duties.

Michel Cleis is a Hedonist. It comes from his native surrounding, the fairyland look-alike view that you get around Lugano, where he spend his childhood. Son of an artist, sculptor and musician in a crazy and joyful band in New Orleans, he was struck by the sheer force of the happy and festive sound that he gives in his shows today. As a teenager, he swerved into soul, jazz and rock. Finally he discovered techno, all the machines that produce sounds and the night clubbing life that accompanied it. Studying psychology, he also entered “Ecole de Beaux Arts”, the interaction with humanism and creativity are two sides which still characterizes is musical style. He then spent some time in Germany and Spain where he started to experiment with sampling, sharing his work with friends.

Guest DJ Mix from Solomun Tonight on The Underground

Tonight on what most surely will be a late Underground after the baseball, we have a mix from your host Duncan Ross as well as a special guest mix from one of the headliners of this year's Sunday School: The Lost Weekend at the Ice Palace taking place during the Miami Music Week.

Solomun
The word “industrious” is oft overused when it comes to describing artists in dance music
and even when correctly used it’s rarely a sign of artistic quality.
When it comes to Solomun however, it’s bang on the mark and has no negative
implications for artistic quality. The Hamburg-based, Bosnian-born Croatian has played a
major role in redefining European house music in recent years via productions, remixes
and DJing which take the very building blocks of house and deftly reconstruct them with
a decidedly modern twist.

We’re getting Kinda Kinky with Ursula 1000 at 7pm

Nick Curly interview tonight on The Underground

If you play Tech House, you play Nick Curly, his labels Cecille and 8-Bit are consistently on the top ten of beatport and if you listen to the show you've heard his labels' tracks numerous times. Tonight he'll be bringing the Mannheim sound to Space and I was able to catch up with him earlier in the week to get his thoughts on the world of techno. Tune it tonight from 9-11pm for his set, the interview and a mix from yours truly.

The Underground is ALL NIGHT TONIGHT

Hey People it's Duncan Ross, the original Underground DJ here. Tonight I'll be on the air from 7pm-? with the help of the Bassment Sessions DJ SPINZINN..and well.. you! Tonight after the in-studio underground Zinn will be picking it up LIVE from La Fee Verte, a very dark and sexy burlesque club at 912 71st and Miami Beach. I had a dream today...and it sounded like deep house with beautiful dancing people, Betty Paige and a Russian contortionist hanging from the ceiling in a cat suit. Why I am the only one to have this dream? Well I'm not...I just found the place. I'll be coming on after Zinn if I can see straight so listen at 7pm, give me a call or send an email to info@duncanross.net to get on the list. All the old crew from my less respectable days are coming out so I hope to see you there...and if not..tune in to get your house music fix. Up all night, on The Underground.
