Hey my name is Jamie Reina. I was born in Boston, Mass. before moving to San Diego, CA after two years and living out the majority of my life in California. I am a freshman this year at the University of Miami and was accepted into the Spring Semester and am focusing on studying medicine. I became a DJ because I love music. I believe that music is a part of everyone and plays a significant role in our lives. I believe we all naturally have rhythm because our HEART gives off a BEAT. Anyways, my favorite music genre would have to be Hip-Hop. I live off of Hip-Hop, old school and new school. My favorite artists are Biggie Smalls, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Common, Lupe Fiasco, Kendrick Lamar, and J.Cole. There are several other artist I listen too but those are few. In the future I want to host the Hip Hop Shop specialty show if I can because I want to expose listeners to good non-mainstream hip-hop. Salsa is another music genre I like to listen to and its probably because of my background. I am Colombian. I grew up listening to salsa being played around the house and its just stayed with me ever since. So if you hear salsa on the radio, it’s probably me.
