Lane 8 @ the Ground

by Kyle Gordon

The mood was right for a Friday night in Miami. Lane 8 performed at The Ground (Also known as Club Space) in promotion of his news album, Little by Little. Not only did he promote his album, but also the connection between human and life. By this, I mean he is making it his priority that the usage of phones and technology are not permitted, to ensure maximum enjoyment with what is going on right in front of you.

As Daniel (Lane 8) stated, “WE LIVE AT A TIME WHEN DISTRACTIONS FROM REALITY ARE NEVER FURTHER AWAY THAN OUR FINGERTIPS. OUR PHONES OFFER US UNLIMITED STIMULATION AND TEMPORARY COMFORT. THE POSSIBILITIES OF TECHNOLOGY ARE ENDLESS, BUT THEY ALSO LIMIT THE POSSIBILITY…THE POSSIBILITY TO TRULY EXPERIENCE AND SUBMIT TO THE MOMENT.” To read the full statement by Daniel, visit his website HERE.

With all of these factors in play… I turned my phone off (although bouncers were also putting tape across the front and back cameras of phones), and purely enjoyed the music. The crowd was absolutely electric. To me, honestly, this was the best, most enthusiastic crowd I have ever experienced at a show in Miami. Constant dancing and chantings of “OO OO!” had the venue shaking. Although the entire set was incredible and full of bass-pumping fire, my favorite songs of the night were ‘No Captain‘ (which features POLICA) and ‘Coming Back to You‘.

Make sure to check out Lane 8’s bone-electrifying album Little by Little. And make sure to promote life as it is… it’s pureness without technology. Without recording or capturing everything, you can say “This Never Happened,” which defines the ultimate quest of Lane 8.
