What to do While You’re Missing iii Points

If you’re like me, you aren’t going to the iii Points Music Festival, and you’re sad about it. There are numerous reasons to not be in attendance: money, school, work … Even still, I can personally foresee myself experiencing a lot of FOMO as I watch snapchat stories of the festival. To potentially prevent feeling sorry for myself, I decided to take charge of my President’s Day weekend. Miami is never boring and there’s never nothing or even just one cool thing to do. Here’s some [cheaper] things you can do instead of III Points:

ART

  • Coconut Grove Arts Festival

    • Where: 2700 S. Bayshore Drive, Miami, FL 33133

    • Cost: General Admission - $15 per person per day. Discount prices for buying ahead of time

    • When:  February 16th & 17th 10 am - 6 pm & 18th 10 am - 5 pm

    • Description:

  1. Food - celebrity chef led demonstrations & 50+ restaurants and gourmet vendors

  2. Music - live music on the lawn of Peacock Park

  3. Art - 360+ artists showcasing their work. The festival collection contains 15 mediums of nearly every style

  • Art Wynwood

    • Where: One Herald Plaza @ NE 14TH Street On Biscayne Bay

    • Cost: Tickets start at $15 for groups of 10+, $30 for one day, $55 multi-day

    • When: February 15th, 16th, 17th 11 am - 7 pm & 18th 11 am - 6 pm

    • Description:

      • One of the most prominent art fairs in Miami with international contemporary art. Artists featured include emerging, mid-career, and master artists.

      • Miami Yacht Show will be occurring alongside the event

  • ARTECHOUSE

    • Where: 736 Collins Ave., Miami Beach

    • Cost: $20 for students

    • When: Everyday 10 am - 10/11 pm (POP-UP art, will end eventually)

    • Description:

      • XYZT: Abstract Landscapes is a travelling installation created by Adrien M & Claire B. Interactive technology art. Looks so cool - very instagrammable.

      • Must plan visit ahead of time. Sessions are every 60 minutes. Arrive 10 minutes ahead of time.




MUSIC

  • Nelly

    • Where: E11even Miami

    • Cost: $20-30

    • When: February 15th 10 pm

    • Description: Rapper/Singer → Song: Hot in Herre

  • Watches & Wonders

    • Where: Miami Design District 140 NE 39th Street Miami, FL 33137

    • Cost: FREE

    • When: February 15th, 16th 11 am - 8 pm & 18th 12 - 6 pm

    • Description:

      • Event for fine watchmaking, jewelry, vintage cars, yachts and other luxius goods. Looking to feel fancy?

  • Miami Yacht Show

    • Where: One Herald Plaza @ NE 14TH Street On Biscayne Bay

    • Cost: One day general admission $28

    • When: February 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th 10 am - 6 pm & 18th 10 am - 5 pm

    • Description:

      • If you like looking at really cool, fancy, big boats, this is your event. Some of the world’s most extraordinary boats will be showcased. If you want to know what it like to be super boujee for a day, invest.

      • Art Wynwood will be occurring alongside the event

  • Thrifter Market

    • Where: Mana Wynwood

    • Cost: FREE

    • When: Every Friday 4 – 10 pm, Saturday & Sunday 12 – 10 pm

    • Description:

      • A marketplace featuring local artists. Market items include handmade crafts, vintage finds, and art. Also found at the market: artisanal food and libations, live music, and a fun atmosphere in an outdoor space.

Whatever you decide to do instead of III Points, own it. There’s always some cool thing you can be doing. In the meantime, I hope this list helps. Maybe I’ll see you out there!
